– Are you an organization of some sort?
No. We are a production company, a merchandise outlet, solely dedicated to providing our customers with a wide range or fashion and lifestyle products. Nothing more, nothing less.
– What are your political views?
None at all. We stand without any sort of political interest or implications. This is of zero interest for us, have always been – and will always be. Our struggle is purely a cultural one, and will always remain so. We do not condone or encourage any sort of political views, however difficult it might be to comprehend with a modern mindset.
– Vikings, Northmen, Teutonic, Germanic, Nordic etc., it has a pretty bad ring to it, doesn’t it?
In the flora of global diversity, we happen to belong to a specific and distinctive branch of mankind. A part of our collective being, is our cultural heritage. It is a sad fact that the northern European culture have been biased by certain historical events, and there’s nothing we can do about that. Being of northern European descent and recognizing with that identity, still does not make you responsible for anything but your own life and your own actions. There is no choosing who you are, but you decide what you are.
– Do you have any religious affiliations?
Both yes and no. All of our staff are dedicated to the indigenous northern European spiritual tradition. However, none of us belong to any particular “-ism” or any specific outspoken modern construction to describe that faith (be it Odinism, Theodism, Asatru, Forn Sidr etc.). Most of us have been dedicated to our beliefs the most part of our lives.
– You produce modern products with ancient symbols and patterns, isn’t that a contradiction? What about historical accuracy?
Absolutely not. Had northern Europe remained culturally intact over the last two millennia, we would still have known technological development, just as we did back then. We offer products that we think would have been offered in markets and shops in Birka, Kaupang, Hedeby and Schleswig at this very day, if some events had just turned out a little different throughout history. Historical accuracy furthermore, is for reenactors and role-playing gamers, we are culture bearers – a living part of an ever evolving culture.
– Are you environmentally aware?
As far as it is possible, we try to stick to eco-friendly materials and manufacturing procedures, and chose cooperators accordingly. We actively seek new ways to shrink our environmental imprint to the least possible. We believe it’s better for both ourselves, our customers and our environment to do so.
– Aren’t you just making a profit on the northern European heritage?
Yes. We are. So were silversmiths, carpenters, tailors and others 2 000 years ago as well. It isn’t clear whether or not silver smiths making Thor’s Hammers for sale back then were snarled at and called “profiteers”, or if people were fine with others making their living by producing and selling things that people were asking for. And yes, to run any sort of business requires a basic profit. If you want to pay us for working full time for free, and offer everything we do with a zero profit – you are welcome.
